Impact

Inspired kids become inspiring adults.

Most of what Lois and I support comes back to the same thing: making sure a child's circumstances do not decide what they get to become.

Board member — Director and Treasurer

My Future Story

My Future Story is a non-profit in Southlake, Texas, founded by Lois. I sit on the board as a director and treasurer.

The idea is simple. Most children pick a career from the small handful of jobs they have actually seen an adult do. My Future Story widens that view — helping them find a future in the things they already lose hours to, with enough realism to be useful and enough room left for dreaming.

It works through:

  • Books for 8–12 year olds
  • Career field trips, in groups or classrooms, for middle and high school
  • Career presentations and Q&A for all ages
  • Career fairs

It also helps companies understand the mechanics of building scholarships, internships, job shadowing and apprenticeships — the part most organisations want to do and do not know how to start.
